Conservative Wordsmith writes: Why is it that liberals seem to love negative, toxic, poisonous words? I don't often see conservatives using language in a mean way, with truly evil intent. Liberals seem to think that America's founding fathers, like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, for example, accepted this type of speech. Did they?
Why do more conservatives than liberals seem to understand this truth? The liberal media seems to think that people enjoy hearing and watching a daily dose of pessimism. Contrary to what liberals think, words do injure, they do hurt, and they can harm people. The wrong words can murder a person's soul, and then cause that person to become physically ill. The old childhood saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names (or words) will never hurt me" is false. I don't know who invented it, but I'll bet it was a liberal!
Be careful what you say to others. I know that all of us slip up sometimes, and say negative words that we don't really mean. I'm not talking about this. I'm talking about people who habitually abuse others with their tongues, and some of them may be too ignorant to even recognize what they are doing. Others, however, may be fully aware of their speech, and either don't care, or say the words intentionally, with the full knowledge that someone will be hurt. A child who is constantly abused in this manner will have emotional problems as an adult, and an adult who is constantly abused in this manner will suffer from low self-esteem, depression and other psychological illnesses.
Do not take this lightly. James, an apostle of Jesus Christ, knew all about this subject. Just read chapter three of the Book of James in the New Testament. You will probably need to read it many times, and even memorize passages. You have the power to either encourage or discourage others - the choice is yours.
