Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: I am thankful that President Bush was the leader of America when 9/11 unexpectedly happened, and intruded upon all of our lives like a thief in the night. America has not been attacked again because of his serious and mature understanding of the situation. It is important to understand the reason for this attack on America.
There are many who honestly believe that America caused the bitter hatred in the Middle East that led to this event. Many believe in ridiculous so-called Truth Conspiracy theories that border on insanity; for instance, the idea that our president and government plotted and schemed to make this happen. How about those that blame Israel? When logic fails, Jews seem to be blamed for just about everything.
These conspiracy theorists remind me of the Holocaust deniers, the historical revisionists who pretend that nothing happened in the concentration camps. They have written books denying the reality that approximately six million Jews, plus Christians, Gypsies, and others, were killed by cultured, educated Germans who loved classical music.
The truth is that fanatical Muslim followers of Osama Bin Laden believed that what they were doing was holy and Godly, and that, after having committed these acts in the name of Allah, they would be blessed forever in the other world as righteous martyrs.
There are those who have walked upon this earth who were true martyrs, and literally gave up their lives to benefit others. The Islamic
fanatics that perpetrated the horrendous acts of 9/11 were not martyrs, and, if there is a just God (and I believe there is), they are definitely not being blessed in that other world right now.
I know there are Muslims who are spiritual, kind, honest, and good. I hope they will stand up for whatever truth and goodness they see in their religion, and speak out against terrorists who insist on interpreting the Koran in fanatically disturbing ways.
