Mitt Romney for President in 2012? Some Republicans Say Yes!

Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Mitt romney, Former Republican presidential candidate in the 2008 election, may yet run again for U.S. President in 2012. I was glad to see this story due to my constant support of Mitt, having written extensively about Article 6 of the U.S. Constitution (the "no religious test" clause in regards to Mitt's Mormon (Latter-Day Saint) religion, and the need for evangelical Christians to let go of their religious intolerance.

Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and now we have one of the most liberal Democrats of all time for our newly elected U.S. President, President-Elect Barack Obama. Mitt was the most conservative of all of the candidates, and it's good to see some Republicans asserting his viable candidacy in 2012. It's just too bad that didn't happen in 2008.

Sarah Palin Is Breath of Fresh Air, Obama Indefinably Stale

Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: In the middle of a political conversation taking place this morning at a local grocery store, I asked an elderly lady what she thought of Sarah Palin. She said that Sarah Palin is "a breath of fresh air." Barack Obama loses on this score.

Even though Barack Obama is less experienced in the political arena than Sarah Palin, and was also relatively unknown when first chosen as the liberal leftist-to-the-extreme hero of the Democratic Party, he never really seemed like a breath of fresh air. There was always something indefinably stale about Barack Obama, in spite of his past, and present, constant, ceaseless chatter about change.

Sarah Palin, on the other hand, really does bring the concept of change with her into the political arena, and everyone, especially Barack Obama and Joe Biden, recognizes this fact. Sarah Palin is definitely someone that liberals should be afraid of, because, until John McCain chose her as his running mate, things were looking much better for liberal Democrats.

Conservatives that previously did not like John McCain, even downright disliked him, are now being persuaded, because of his decision to pick Sarah Palin, to take another look at the man who is frequently referred to as a "maverick." If Barack Obama had been as much of a maverick as John McCain, he would have humbled himself and chosen Hillary Clinton as his running mate, but Barack Obama, a man who claims to be a force for change, could evidently not bring himself to change enough.

To pick Hillary Clinton as his running mate would have meant that Barack Obama was an insightful presidential candidate, believing in change even when it meant that he would have to swallow his own pride. Instead, he picked the easy way out, the comfort zone of no political change, when he chose Joe Biden. What a shock it must have been when John McCain announced that Sarah Palin would now be the new breath of fresh air for the Republican party!

John McCain could not have picked a more perfect running mate than Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. In the meantime, I imagine that Barack Obama and Joe Biden will need to start preaching something else besides change, change, change. I predict that more and more Americans, even liberals, are going to become fed up with Barack Obama/Joe Biden and their boring, empty speeches, and will find, in spite of themselves, that they are listening more intently to what Republican presidential candidate John McCain and Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin have to say.

Sarah Palin Impervious to Political Sabotage

Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Obama/Biden fans: If change is what you want, consider John McCain/Sarah Palin as the true vehicles for political change. If you are a liberal, and you claim to be infinitely more open-minded than your fellow conservatives, consider this: You may think that the Barack Obama/Joe Biden ticket is the answer to every liberal's dreams, but I believe that if they win (and now that Sarah Palin is in the Republican race, that dream is becoming more and more unlikely), you may be in for a huge disappointment.

The only change that the Obama/Biden team will be capable of delivering will be one huge Zero which stands for no change, words without actions, and vague, empty promises that will not be kept. These are the idols of liberal daydreamers, and we all know that daydreaming, although pleasant, does not offer a solid basis for choosing America's next political leaders.
Whatever your thoughts might be regarding Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin, one thing can't be denied. Sarah Palin is definitely a strong, yet pleasant, breath of fresh air in American politics, and, thanks to the brilliant move on the part of John McCain in choosing her, Democrats now truly have something to fear--the fact that Sarah Palin is savvy enough to be impervious to the liberal media's attempt at political sabotage.

ABC News Anchorman Charles Gibson's recent interview with Sarah Palin, and his obvious attempt to trap her, to try to make her look both ignorant and weak, miserably failed. She was victorious, although to read some of the liberal media's commentaries on that interview leaves me to wonder if they were watching the same interview I saw, or if they viewed it in another dimension.

RFK: In Remembrance Of A Personal Hero

Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Today is the anniversary of Robert F. Kennedy's assassination. RFK has always been one of my heroes. Bobby Kennedy possessed the highest degree of integrity, combined with a deep understanding of righteousness, tolerance, and the necessity of correcting injustices. Bobby Kennedy was also brilliant, a man of deep faith, a committed husband and devoted father, plus Bobby had a smile and down-to-earth manner of speaking that readily warmed the hearts of everyone.

America loved Bobby Kennedy, and his tragic, unexpected death by assassination was a shock to all Americans. It didn't really matter, in that chilling moment of awareness, whether he was a Democrat or Republican, a liberal or a conservative. This is something to think about now, forty years later, and in an election year.

If you are a liberal Democrat suffering from the disappointment that Hillary Clinton will not be our next president, think about this. Do you really want Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States of America? I know that some liberals actually like John McCain, and some conservatives think that he is too liberal. I also know that some liberals recognize that there is danger lurking in the possibility of Barack Obama actually becoming our next president.

Ann Coulter, a well-known conservative author, wrote last year that she would rather vote for Hillary Clinton than John McCain, declaring that she would become a “Hillary girl.”  *See my related post. What about Barack Obama, Ann? Are you now an "Obama girl" also? **Watch this video.

The bottom line is this: if you are a liberal or a conservative with a conscience, and you take your privilege to vote seriously, then you will vote for the best man, regardless of which political party he represents. Won't you?

Romney On McCain: Leader At A Dangerous Hour

Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Mitt Romney has officially endorsed Republican presidential candidate John McCain, and wants his delegates to support McCain. 1

"'Even when the contest was close and our disagreements were debated, the caliber of the man was apparent,' the former Massachusetts governor said, standing alongside his one-time rival at his now-defunct campaign's headquarters." "'This is a man capable of leading our country at a dangerous hour.'" 1

"'Primaries are tough,' said McCain, referring to their earlier rancor."

"'We know it was a hard campaign and now we move forward, we move forward together for the good of our party and the nation.'" 1

"The two met privately before appearing together at a news conference." 1

"After Romney's announcement, McCain picked up endorsements from eight members of the Republican National Committee who will attend the convention and can support whomever they choose. That gave McCain 851 delegates, to 242 for Huckabee. It left Romney with 277 delegates." 1

"While Romney can ask his delegates to support McCain, he won't be able to simply hand over all of them. Many are from caucus states that won't select the actual delegates until state conventions this spring. Those delegates will be selected by people who supported Romney in the initial caucuses; the direction they go depends on whether they follow Romney's lead in endorsing McCain." 1

"In other states, the delegates are bound to Romney, and their fate is governed by state party rules. In states like Montana, where Romney has 25 delegates, they would be free to support whomever they choose after Romney releases them." 1

"Romney had support from six RNC delegates who continued to endorse him even after he dropped out of the race. Three of them switched to McCain, but some weren't ready." 1

"Romney suspended his candidacy last week after it became apparent that toppling McCain would be near impossible to gain the delegates needed to defeat McCain." 1

"He was the only one of McCain's main primary opponents who had resisted lining up behind the nominee in waiting; Rudy Giuliani and Fred Thompson both have endorsed him." 1

Some of my readers may have already guessed, based on my previous post *(see my related post below), that I am supporting John McCain also. Your assumption is correct. Hear ye, hear ye! The Conservative Wordsmith hereby gives Republican presidential candidate John McCain her official endorsement.

As for those of you who agree with Ann Coulter's so-called political strategy in being willing to vote, and even campaign, for Hillary Clinton, rather than John McCain **(see my related post below), I can only say that I hope your good intentions do not backfire and end up disappointing you.
