Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Christopher Hitchens and the Secular Humanist Manifestos have much in common. These documents date back to 1933. Here is a quote from Humanist Manifesto II: "We believe, however, that traditional dogmatic or authoritarian religions that place revelation, God, ritual or creed above human influence and experience do a disservice to the human species." Also, "Promises of immortal salvation or fear of eternal damnation are both illusory and harmful."

It would appear that Mr. Hitchens is not that much of an original thinker. This type of thinking crops up generation after generation like a thorn in the flesh. Either people will be fooled by it, or they will recognize its inherent poison disguised as goodness.
