*Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin's Christmas Message To My Readers: I would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and to remind you that the Star of Bethlehem can still be a sign of Hope for all of us today, just as it was long ago for the Three Wise Men, or Magi. They looked up at the sky, and saw this special Star, a sign to them in the sky that the Savior of the World had been born. They traveled many miles to see the little baby Jesus in a manger, bringing him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They worshipped the baby, recognizing him as the King of Kings, the Messiah, worthy to be reverenced and adored.
I know it is difficult for some, maybe many, to find any sense of real joy at Christmas. Sometimes one needs to let go of one's own worries and concerns, and allow the Lord to wipe away your your outer and inner tears. Remember that Jesus also suffered greatly, and understands your sorrows and needs. I understand that it is not easy to do this, but it is necessary, for every person must have hopes and dreams, and these hopes and dreams will be more likely to die if Jesus the Savior is not in the picture.
Jesus Christ the Lord gave us His Holy Spirit, also called the Holy Ghost, or the Paraclete, which means Comforter, for that very reason--so that we would know where to go in order to receive the ultimate comfort. You may think that a mug of beer or a shot of whiskey will rescue you from your woes. It might give temporary relief, but it will never cure you of your sorrows.
Turn to Jesus, the Man of Sorrows, in your time of need. Do not despair. You may not be able to see Him with your physical eyes, but you can choose to recognize Him with your heart. Sometimes the heart sees more clearly than the eyes. The author of the famous book The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery, beautifully wrote "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." 1

"And he went back to meet the fox.
"Goodbye," he said.
"Goodbye," said the fox. "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
"What is essential is invisible to the eye," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember.
"It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important."
"It is the time I have wasted for my rose--" said the little prince, so that he would be sure to remember.
"Men have forgotten this truth," said the fox. "But you must not forget it. You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed. You are responsible for your rose . . ."
"I am responsible for my rose," the little prince repeated, so that he would be sure to remember." -
