They should think about the option of living without any electricity or batteries – no light bulbs, no television, no radio, and no computers. They could only use beeswax candles, because regular candles are made from petroleum, and kerosene, of course, is also out. But some might not want to use beeswax because it is an animal product. That group could spend their evenings sitting in total darkness and meditating.
Then they should give away their homes to the homeless, and live in tents. There wouldn’t be much to do. They couldn’t read, because newspapers, magazines, and books are made from trees, and they couldn’t use any tissue paper of any kind, or paper towels, for the same reason.
They would need to cook their food the old fashioned way, not being able to use electric or gas stoves. But they would probably opt for going on a raw food diet because fire is not good for the environment, and, besides that, it causes brush and forest fires. About the only thing left for them to do would be to protest. They could shout out slogans such as: Love Palestine, Hate Israel; Terrorists Don’t Exist; Independence is for Losers; and Who Says there’s a God? But then how would they make their posters?
Now I’m not criticizing people who choose this type of lifestyle. In fact, they probably deserve my praises. I just want to know how many liberal politicians are willing to live like this. Is Al Gore?
