Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Tony Blair, Britain's current Prime Minister, and a familiar face to Americans, will end his term on June 27 of next week. President Bush would like Blair to be the new Peace Envoy in the Middle East. Gordon Brown will be Britain's new Prime Minister.

It is not certain yet that Blair will accept the position, as he has also received some other offers. I like Tony Blair, because, like President George W. Bush, he has not been afraid to stand up for his beliefs, in spite of heavy criticism. If you click on the CNN article link above, you will read that the mere possibility of Blair becoming the new Peace Envoy is already being met with disagreement. The article mentions that a “senior European diplomat” (not named) does not think that this is a good idea for several reasons; one being that he believes Blair is “the co-author of the Iraq war."
It is interesting to note that Britain’s Prince Harry went to military school, and wanted to command a troop in Iraq, but was prohibited from doing so because of “a number of specific threats against him." A spokesperson said that the Prince was “very disappointed."

Why would a young, handsome Prince, who has riches, power, and prestige, want to go to Sandhurst military academy, and then to Iraq? Why would he want to risk his life?
If the war in Iraq has been pointless, as “learned” liberals constantly remind us, one would think that someone like Prince Harry would agree with them, and even protest the war. Surprisingly, Harry said, “There’s no way I’m going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.”
