Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: Would a committed pacifist make a good U.S. President? This might seem like a good idea on the surface, but, digging deeper, what would happen to America if the president, senators, and congressmen were all believers in the principles of nonviolence?
Would there then be world peace? Some might think so. What would Jihadists do if they thought our president was totally against aggression of any kind? What if we had no military? Would the rest of the world then embrace and praise our country? Or would they seize upon the opportunity to finally topple America?
Should a potential pacifistic president announce to the world ahead of time that if any country attacks America, we will not retaliate? Will this scenario take place when our next U.S. President delivers the first State of the Union Address? I, for one, hope not.
