Conservative Wordsmith Susan Baldwin writes: The hatred that perpetrated 9/11 is not easily matched. Jihadists seek vengeance with a passion, and they view their murderous acts as being holy, deserving of martyrdom. There is a major problem with this, and that is that martyrs are supposed to be those who are killed, not those who kill others. They have reversed the usual understanding of martyrdom. The murderer has become the victim, and the victim is the guilty one. The innocent pay for their crimes of tolerance and compassion. Jihadists know that America is a great country, and this knowledge causes them to be jealous and angry, although they would not interpret it as such.
This will be my last post today about 9/11. I think that a National Holiday should be declared for this date. It is a good day for reflection, and also for gratitude. We should all be grateful to God for our lives each and every day, always tell those close to us that we love them whenever possible, and always remember the heroic firemen, policemen, religious leaders, and civilians that risked their lives on that day. Some of these heroes survived and some of them lost their lives. We should always honor their memory.
